How A Drunk Texans Quest for Green Food Turned Into a Nightmare

The case of Wasabi vs. Guacamole

It was a cold wintery night in 1996 in Dallas, TX. A group of my colleagues and I were in town for a week-long training session. We had come up from the sales office in Houston.

Our days were filled with engineering discussions, sessions on using the new product, marketing assessments, pricing exercises, and competitive analysis.

It was a good class, but we were ready to break out by five in the afternoon and head to a local bar for some intoxication and beef.

Our instructor decided to join us for dinner on the last day of class. He even offered to pay.

Not being shy, we agreed and decided on a local steak house that had a great bourbon and scotch collection. Little did the instructor realize that he was facing a $1,000 night of free-flowing booze, fine wine, and thick steaks.

When class officially ended, we headed to our hotel rooms and changed into our designer jeans, clean shirts, sports jackets, pointy-toed boots, and belts with big buckles. We…
