It seems hotter outside this year — 2023

Is there a break in the future, or will we be subjected to another few weeks of heat misery?

Welcome to life in Texas this year.

July and August are on track to break temperature records, with numerous days reaching over 100 degrees. Additionally, rainfall has been lower than average, and the daily heat index has exceeded 110°F.

As much as I love summer and don’t mind living in Southeast Texas, this year is just miserably hot.

Maybe it’s a combination of my age or heat sensitivity to some medications. I can’t remember it being this miserable.

Here are a few things we currently face thanks to the heat:

  • My swimming pool has an average temperature of 95 degrees. It’s not refreshing to swim.
  • Hanging out on the patio with steaks sizzling on the grill has been put on hold until it starts raining. There is too much of a fire threat to risk lighting the grill.
  • I had to pick up a friend the other night at 11:30 pm. The outside temperature was still 94 degrees.
  • My car’s air conditioning died. The compressor needs to be replaced. Fortunately, I work from home. I’ll depend on Uber when I need to go out until it…
