Using Your Smartphone Wisely Shouldn’t Make You Feel Guilty
But we think it does
I used to carry either a paperback book or a magazine in my back pocket. Every time I had to wait on something or somebody I had my book or magazine to read.
I did this for years. It was a habit I developed in high school when we didn't have the luxury of Smartphones. I always had something to read to fill my time.
Nobody ever accused me of reading too much.
I've now replaced the book and magazines with my Smartphone. My phone is my electronic companion and rarely leaves my possession.
When I wait for somebody or something, I pull out my trusty Android and read, write, listen to music, text people, check email, watch movies, take pictures, or get caught up on the news and weather.
It's the perfect device. It does more than the magazine in my back pocket ever did.
People keep saying that we spend too much time on our devices.
I've yet to figure out what's wrong with using it? Is there a difference between using the Kindle app on my phone to read a book vs. holding a paperback? Does that qualify as spending too much time on my device?
