It's a Great Feature That Should Never Have Been Taken Away

I'm talking about writing on Medium with a Smartphone

I spent some time waiting on a grandkid to finish her color guard training at the football field, so I decided to try out the resurrected mobile writing feature on Medium.

At first, I wondered why anyone would want to write a big piece from their phone. It requires a lot of thumb mobility. But within a few minutes, I came to enjoy it.

I'm not a spontaneous guy, but I become obsessed when I get an idea and want to write it down. If I'm out and about without my laptop, I will handwrite a few pages and retype them later.

Since I carry my smartphone everywhere, nothing is in my way of immediately inputting my thoughts into a story format on Medium.

There are other utilities on my phone for entering text. But I have to convert the text or re-copy it into Medium's format for publishing. It is a bit of trouble. With mobile writing back on the app, Medium provides direct access to their format.

It's a nice feature that never should have been taken away.
