It's All About Bacon and Why I Can't Resist Its Exotic Lure
I need to have some bacon
Bacon tastes good and fringes on being addictive. It's good for you; it's terrible for you. It's a century-old debate.
I'm not sure what the allure is, but there is something exotic about starting a morning with four slices of crispy bacon nestled alongside an order of hashbrowns, eggs, and an English muffin. Shared with a steamy hot cup of dark roast coffee, the day is guaranteed to be great.
Of course, ordering bacon, lettuce, avocado, and tomato sandwiches for lunch is also fun. And who can resist the indulgence of having bacon added to a gourmet hamburger?
There is something exotic about bacon; its taste, texture, and mouth feel make it a delicacy.
Americans eat approximately eighteen pounds of bacon a year. That's equivalent to the average weight of a tire. I think I'm behind this year, so I need to step up my game to hit my eighteen-pound quota by year's end.
Researchers are all over the map about whether bacon is good for you. The debate is so intense I'm not even going to comment.
My theory is that if it is so bad, it shouldn't be on the market, and if it's a fantastic superfood, then we would eat it daily.
