My favorite was a phone call from my boss who said don't get on the airplane. As I was standing in line to board a flight to see a customer and train their team. It was understandable, we were on the verge of bankruptcy and a last minute acquistion offer came in. Part of the conditions were they would only take two people. Which left 15 of us out in the cold.
