My Secret Food Habit That I’m Going to Share: It’s Been with Me for Over Fifty Years
And it is no secret, just a comforting indulgence
Once or twice a month, I treat myself to breakfast on Sunday mornings. As a widower, I’m as independent as possible with multiple eating options.
My routine is simple. I have a friend renting a room in my house. She doesn’t have a car right now, and depending on the weather, she either walks to work, catches an Uber, or I give her a ride.
I have no problem dropping her off Sunday mornings as I usually run errands or take the opportunity to eat breakfast out.
On the days I get breakfast, I have a good choice of restaurants; all are good. To decide on which one, I take into consideration a few variables.
I immediately scratch the fast-food drive-throughs from my list. The local bagel shop is excellent but tends to get crowded. I enjoy the local New York-style deli, but it’s a little further than I care to drive on some days. I could drop in at Starbucks, which is ok, but I prefer Starbucks for cold drinks on a hot afternoon. This leaves me with a local niche cafe that is good but a little pricey or Denny’s.
This is where I begin overthinking my intentions. I want a good breakfast, a refillable cup…
