Old Clothes Hold Secrets, But There Comes a Time When We Have to Let Go
It’s time for the springtime purge
It’s springtime and time to start the annual purge. This is when I flush out the old and make room for the new. I use the time to review all my clothes, donate what I can, keep what I want, and in some cases, destroy what’s beyond use.
My process is proven.
On Easter morning, I get a cup of coffee and go into my Master Closet. Stripping down to my boxers, I spend an hour reviewing every article of clothing I own. I try them on, look for holes, make sure they fit, and decide their fate.
I end up with multiple piles and immediately take action on them, knowing that if I hesitate, the dog will use them as her bed. She enjoys its comfort and human smell.
I am amazed at what I kept from the previous year, what fits or is no longer needed. I work on both my closet and chest of drawers.
My body size, comfort level, and age dictate that I wear loose-fitting clothes. I am the epitome of the relaxed fit. I prefer buying clothes a size or two bigger than required, with judicious use of a belt to hold my pants in place.
My criteria for assessing clothes is simple; if the article is tight on any body surface, I get rid of it.
