The Day I Discovered There Was More to Life Than Gas Station Coffee

People who don’t drink coffee think any brand, grind, and flavor makes a good cup of coffee.

How wrong they are. For years I lived with that attitude.

Luckily, thirty years ago, I was introduced to the world of premium coffee. And I haven’t looked back.

It all began one cold wintery day, where the only way to stay warm was to snuggle up with my wife and a dog under a heavy comforter. Between the three of us huddled together, for which the dog loved having human time, we barely created enough heat to function. Even my wife couldn’t provide enough body heat to get warm.

My restful time in bed was short-lived as I had to head to my office.

Grabbing a hot shower, which I wanted to last for hours, I was soon prepped and out the door.

I worked for a local university. My office was in a basement, which wasn’t bad, except my team and I had no idea what the weather was doing outside.

The internet was still in its infancy, so I couldn’t just look at a website and understand the weather conditions.

The university was spread over seven hundred acres; it was great for my physical well-being. Somedays…
