The Excitement of the Time Change
Conversion day energizes me
Today November 7, 2021, is the day we fall back an hour, turning off Daylight Savings Time.
It's a pretty innocent event. There are no parties, fireworks, or crystal balls dropping in Times Square, and people feel good about gaining an hour.
It takes two days for me to get used to reassociating physical time with the sunrise and sunset. I feel like I'm in suspended animation until my body figures out the rhythm. I refer to the feeling as artificial jet lag.
I look at November as a gateway month.
Trees that haven't dropped their leaves are in full action as they prep for winter. Halloween is over, and the stores attack consumers with Thanksgiving concepts while going full force on the upcoming Christmas season. The winter weather cycle has begun. Thus the movements of cold fronts become more predictable. The World Series came and went.
Life happens fast, and thanks to the Government, we have an extra hour to work through the changes.
As the holidays are upon us, this year's season will be more festive as the Covid crisis subsides.
There are inflation concerns, supply chain problems, and empty shelves. All of these contribute to a higher level of creativity and uniqueness in how we manage the season.
I've already got an eye on New Year's Eve and an early prediction for the 2022 Super Bowl.
Time moves quickly, and before you know it, it will be Valentine's Day.
Enjoy the season.
