The Movie 'Chef' Inspired Me to Break My Diet: And The Meal Was Amazing

My Cardiologist would disapprove

I had a follow-up cardiology appointment, and it turned out better than I expected. So I did what any self-serving Senior Citizen would do.

I went out and celebrated by indulging in a carb-loaded, fat-inducing, rich, and creamy Italian Food lunch followed by an Espresso with a Biscotti. The picture above is my actual lunch — Spaghetti Carbonara, and it fits my diet of eating as many dishes with the letter C in the name.

The meal was the antithesis of what any Doctor or Nutritionist would recommend for someone with high blood pressure, a slight weight problem, and borderline cholesterol numbers. But I did it anyway, and I'm glad.

I was motivated by a sense of medical celebration and living out my fantasy of being an undercover food critic.

In 2015 I watched the movie Chef, written and directed by the lead actor Jon Favreau. The movie cast included Dustin Hoffman, Scarlett Johansson, Robert Downing Jr, Sofia Vergara, and others. It is a fun movie, and one worthy of watching now and then for the escapism.
