I recently binge-watched Game of Thrones and Succession on HBO. I heard about the shows and felt it was time to take the plunge and get caught up.

As I watched Game of Thrones, I realized that the problems we are facing today are similar to the troubles the nine houses of Westeros had amongst themselves centuries ago.

The show is full of evil enemies, dragons, people who want to do good but get slaughtered, weather problems due to extreme cold. Mysterious terrorist zombie groups sneaking around in the forest looking for revenge—forts, cities, and lands that get occupied and then overtaken. There is a constant shift of power for which thousands of people are affected.

The interesting dynamic of Game of Thrones is when things can’t get any worse for the warring groups, they find a way to sit down at large regal banquets, pretend to get along, drink beyond drunk, and eat like hungry mongrels before slashing heads with their swords.

Indeed an exciting but brutal way to resolve conflict.
