The Worst Performing Story I’ve Written for Medium and Why It Matters
A personal listicle
It’s that time of year when we are hit with listicles of all types. The stories encompass the best of, the worst of, and the most interesting.
Even stories and articles about the best and worst listicles will appear. Reading a few helps me close out the season.
What is a listicle? Oxford defines them as:
A piece of writing or other content presented wholly or partly in the form of a list
Every year there’s a new twist. Writers from around the world clamor for the top position of listicle writer. And it’s not just writing where listicles appear.
Radio stations play the top fifty songs of the year while their news departments reflect on the year in politics, disasters, and happy news. Some writers stretch their listicles to showcase the decade or century. Magazines, podcasts, and corporations all contribute to listicle madness.
Sticking to the trend, I created the perfect listicle. It is quick and has nothing to do with the last twelve months. It’s a reflection on my writing time here on Medium.
My listicle has only one item. It is the number one worst-performing article I’ve published.
