We tried to save the democracy in the late 60's at the Democratic National Convention in Chicago, but the riots got in the way. The war in Nam was raging, Watergate was just around the corner and the Cold War with Russia was at an all time critical stage. I'm not sure anything has changed. So I sit on my front porch which is not as idyllic as yours and sip martini's while smoking a cigar. That keeps me from watching the news.
